BETHEL — About 50 voters overwhelmingly approved a $10,371,310 budget for SAD 44 on Tuesday night.

Superintendent David Murphy said voters also overwhelmingly approved an adult and community education budget of $152,259, and agreed to move $500,000 from the undesignated fund balance to a capital reserve fund.

The SAD 44 budget for 2013-14 is about 3.8 percent more than the current fiscal year, which ends June 30. The adult education budget is about $5,000 less than this year because of a decrease in secretarial services.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in each town June 11 to cast ballots to validate the school budget.

Polling stations will be at the Andover Town Hall, Crescent Park Elementary School in Bethel, Jackson-Silver American Legion Post Hall in Greenwood, Newry Town Office and Woodstock Town Office.

Also on the referendum ballot will be a question asking voters if they want to continue to adopt a school budget by holding a districtwide meeting, followed by a referendum at the town polls.
