DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Main Street Outdoor Market Committee is accepting vendor applications for its Outdoor Market, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18.

Committee member William DeVries said members are in the beginning stages of planning and that there are plenty of spaces available.

Booth spaces are available for $20. Each space is approximately 10 by 15 feet.

In addition to the booths, DeVries said the committee is attempting to find live entertainment to perform at the Village Green.

“We’re trying to find some entertainment for the children as well,” DeVries added. “I honestly have no idea who will be playing yet. Sammy Angel, who owns the Front Porch Cafe with her husband, has performed before and may perform this year.”

DeVries pointed out that the Outdoor Market is “a low-cost thing, with no admission charge, and that any money made goes to scholarships and local charities.”

“We don’t have deep pockets to get a lot of live entertainment,” DeVries said. “That’s why whenever we look for live entertainment, we’re looking for people who perform gratis or at low cost.”

In previous years, the Outdoor Market has included food booths, antique and collectible vendors and arts and crafts tables.

On Saturday, Aug. 17, DeVries said the Dixfield Historical Society will host its eighth annual Antique Road Show, with Tim Gould appraising items for $5 per item, or $10 to appraise three items.

DeVries, who became involved with the Outdoor Market for the first time last year, said many people have helped keep the event running for “more than 20 years,” with Ralph and Norine Clarke being “the initial movers and shakers.”

“They used to run the event, but they’ve recently taken a back seat to everything,” DeVries said. “They have an emeritus status right now. They still help out, but they’re not as active as they used to be.”

The Committee consists of DeVries, Norine Clarke, Louise Richard, Nancy Volkernick and Deb Morang.
