WILTON — A Gardiner man wanted in Kennebec County for failing to appear in court on sexual assault charges was arrested here Wednesday, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.
Officer Brad Timberlake checked the license plate on a vehicle parked at a Wilton home, Wilcox said, and found it belonged to Robert Merandes, 32, of Gardiner, who was inside. He was wanted in Kennebec County, she said.
Merandes was arrested and taken to the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington and was released to Kennebec County on Thursday.
