AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston community is invited to attend a special Flag Day celebration at 6 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the Veterans Memorial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

Flag Day, June 14, commemorates the day in 1777 when the U.S. flag was adopted.

The program will be presented by the city of Auburn and veterans’ groups. Auburn Mayor Jonathan LaBonte will give the primary address, with councilors Tizz Crowley, Mary LaFontaine and Leroy Walker participating in the program.

Assistant City Manager Howard Kroll will serve as master of ceremonies. Larry Gowell of Auburn will provide musical selections.

All organizations and all veterans’ groups, including Scouts, youth groups, service clubs, fraternal units and others, are invited to show their colors. Also welcome are all color guards, honor guards and flag bearers.

Participants are asked to arrive by 5:45 p.m. so organizers can place each group.

Attendants are advised the Summer Street entrances of Mt. Auburn Cemetery easiest to access. Parking is permitted along the road. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

For more information, contact Leroy Walker at 577-2694 or Tizz Crowley at [email protected].
