BETHEL — The SAD 44 board this week accepted the resignations of several staff members and welcomed two new ones. They also learned of an application for a grant that would provide additional teacher training.
Superintendent David Murphy said board Chairwoman Lainey Cross was re-elected, and Carol Everett of Bethel and Esau Cooper of Andover have joined the board.
Resignations were received by adult education secretary Lynsley Chapman, French teacher Michael Gilbert, and instrumental music teacher James Thibodeau, who are retiring.
The resignation of technology technician Raymond Geiger was also accepted.
K-5 art teacher Tera Ingraham was transferred to a part-time art position at the high school.
Murphy said Telstar Regional High School recently received a letter from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges that it has been removed from the accreditation warning list. He said the school will now go ahead with its routine accreditation process.
In other matters at Monday’s meeting, the board:
* Learned that two high school students have enrolled in Central Maine Community College as part of a pilot program that allows eligible seniors to enroll full-time at the college, with tuition paid by a special local fund. Murphy said the enrollments of three other students are pending.
* Agreed that the district should apply for a Teacher Incentive Grant under the Maine Schools for Excellence Program. Murphy said the grant focuses on student instruction and performance, using data, and developing a teacher evaluation tool.
The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 17, at the high school to validate Tuesday’s vote on the $10,371,000 operating budget for 2013-14.
