PARIS — A Buckfield man was indicted Friday, charged with shooting his girlfriend in the neck during an argument over lost car keys in April.
Scott L. Ackley, 41, of 51 Depot St., was indicted by the Oxford County grand jury on charges of aggravated assault, domestic assault and reckless conduct.
Ackley was arrested April 8 after Sharon Demayo, 38, was shot at the Depot Street home they shared. Demayo was treated at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Demayo has since been released from the hospital although a family member said she has a long period of reconstructive surgery ahead of her. The bullet exited her jaw and upper lip, according to Demayo’s sister.
Police said Ackley and Demayo were drunk at the time of the shooting and were arguing over a set of lost car keys. Witnesses said the pair had just returned from a bar when Demayo went into another room and came back with a 9mm handgun. Ackley took the gun away from her during the fray, the witnesses reported.
Ackley has since been released from jail and will be summoned to court to answer the charges.
