NEW GLOUCESTER — On Monday, Steve Libby was re-elected unanimously to serve as chairman of the New Gloucester Board of Selectmen and Linda Chase was re-elected as co-chairwoman by a 3-2 vote.

Last week, Libby was re-elected to his sixth term on the board, and Joshua McHenry won a second term.

Most of Monday’s meeting highlighted appointments of town employees and volunteers.

Reappointments included Sumner Field III as tax collector, town clerk, road commissioner, welfare director, treasurer and Freedom of Access Act officer; Heather Phinney as animal control officer; Debra Parks Larrivee as code enforcement officer/assessor’s agent, local plumbing inspector/public health officer; Timothy Joy as emergency management director; Douglas Bowie as fence viewer; and Greg Joy as sealer of weights and measures.

Donald Libby was appointed to a three-year term on the Board of Appeals; Tamilyn Wayboer and George Colby were named to the Budget Committee; Richard Erwin and William MacGregor are on the Cable TV Committee.

Ann Bagley was reappointed to the Community Fair Committee, while David Lunt and Jean Couturier and Carleton Wilcox went to the Economic Development Committee; and Cliff Andrews, Phoebe Hardesty and Joanne McKee were appointed to the Environmental Resources Committee.

Eric Brakey was named to the Land Management Planning Committee; Allison Kostovick and Timothy Terranova were reappointed to the Library Board of Trustees; Gen Mercier to Parks and Recreation; Edward Dumas, Jean Couturier and Wanda Brissette to the Planning Board; and David Lunt and Nat Berry to the Public Safety Committee.

In other business, the board approved three capital project funds carried over from fiscal year 2013 to the FY ’14 budget. These include the Outlet Road Bridge at $21,783, library expansion at $22,294.88 and the Woodman Road at $8,585.84.

Selectmen approved accepting a request by former selectman Lenora Conger to have the town manage funds to establish the Linda Ledger Scholarship Fund, a fund to honor her dedication to the community.

Linda Ledger dedicated her life to teaching New Gloucester’s children as a teacher at Memorial School. She also has served for many years on New Gloucester Rescue as well as shared her voice and love of singing to all who have attended the New Gloucester Congregational Church.

A committee has been formed to raise funds and make the annual selection of qualified recipients from New Gloucester for scholarships to be awarded at the annual awards held for SAD 15.

Finally, the Woodman Road reconstruction project award for gravel was OK’d by three bidders.

* Base gravel to Bowie Excavation at $7 per yard.

* Standard surface gravel to M-T pit at $7.25 per yard.

* Standard rip-rap to K and K Excavation at $14 per yard.
