NORWAY — Creating rotating exhibits, expanding funding and increasing volunteerism at the Norway Historical Society are just three of the goals recently set by the trustees during a consensus-building session.

Eleven trustees spent 2 1/2 hours in what they described as a “dynamic” goal-setting discussion for the organization.

Trustees said Dennise Whitley was asked to assist in the process. She is experienced in consensus-building techniques and led the organization in a goal-setting session in 2009.

Whitley told the trustees that the society had successfully accomplished many of their earlier goals.

During the meeting, the trustees agreed on nine objectives from a long list they developed to guide the organization in upcoming years.

The goals are: to create rotating exhibits, increase volunteer opportunities,  expand the collection in specific areas and produce an environmental analysis of the facility.

Other goals include enhancing the security system, authorizing an energy audit, establishing common understanding of all yearly committee goals, developing a one- to three-year plan for building and grounds needs and expanding funding.

The Norway Historical Society is open on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Norway parents are encouraged to come with  their children, who can share what they have learned.

The Society also has a Facebook page and a website at www.norwayhistoricalsociety.org.
