LIVERMORE — Selectpersons unanimously elected Megan Dion to serve as chairwoman of the Board of Selectpersons for the year, town administrative assistant Kurt Schaub said Wednesday.
Dion replaces John Wakefield, who served as chairman for the last year. The board made the decision on Monday, he said.
Selelctpersons were also updated that the Highway Department has revamped its work schedule for the next three months to get the most of a work day while the town is using a rented excavator.
The highway crew will work four 10-hour days each week in order to maximize productive time during June, July and August, Schaub said.
Crew members hours will be 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The shorter week and extended work day takes into account the time needed to set up the excavator on site and the traffic safety signs and other related equipment and then remove them at the end of the day.
Foreman Roger Ferland assured selectpersons he would be available on Fridays to come in if needed.
The board also approved a request by RSU 73 to have a Maine Department of Transportation directional sign placed at the intersection of Gibbs Mill Road and Route 4 to guide people to the Livermore Elementary School, he said.
DOT regulations require municipal approval.
