MINOT — Selectmen on Monday asked residents interested in serving on the RSU 16 School Committee to contact Town Administrator Arlan Saunders at the town office as soon as possible.

Selectmen plan to appoint someone to replace Ellie Biron, who recently resigned because she is moving to Missouri. She was elected a year ago to serve until June 2015.

In a school-related matter, selectmen also received the annual assessment from RSU 16. It is $1,752,793.24.

In other business, Saunders reported that the move to transfer town accounts from TD Bank to Androscoggin Bank is under way and he hopes to be writing checks on the Androscoggin account beginning July 1.

To that end, selectmen authorized Treasurer Holly Packard to cut a check to initiate the transfer.

Packard also reported that 30-day notices have been sent on 2012 property tax liens.

Selectman Eda Tripp reported the town is owed nearly $144,000 in property taxes, about $105,000 of which is from 2012 and the rest from 2011.

Highway Supervisor Scott Parker reported that the town highway crew has almost completed ditching and changing culverts on Hersey Hill Road. The work is preparatory to paving about 3.25 miles of Hersey Hill, Holbrook and Bailey roads.

Saunders said he expects the paving to start in mid-July.

Selectmen also appointed Andrea Hinkley as deputy town clerk and deputy tax collector, to serve through Jan. 31, 2014. Hinkley replaces Christina Helms, who recently left to assist her husband in a family-run business.
