BRUNSWICK — Shirley Skay Kavanaugh, 78, of Brunswick, passed away on July 5.

She was born to the late Ralph and Dora Skay, May 13, 1935, in Lewiston. Shirley graduated from Lewiston High School in 1953. She married Daniel Kavanaugh in 1960, and they lived together in Brunswick for the past 33 years.

Shirley was an extremely proud stay-at-home mom, taking care of her three beloved children. She moved her family from Lewiston to their family farm in Hebron in 1971, and together they enjoyed nine memorable years there. Shirley and her family relocated to Brunswick in 1980. Once her children were grown, she spent many years working for Shaw’s in both Brunswick and Bath.

Shirley loved her family above all else, but also cherished her time spent gardening, bird watching, touring the U.S. and Canada with her husband, spending time with her beloved dogs and caring for her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Dan; her three children, Kim Carpentier, Troy Kavanaugh and Kelly Desjardins, all of Brunswick; their spouses, respectively, Neil Marquis, Shelby Kavanaugh and Rick Desjardins; her eight grandchildren, Paul Carpentier, AJ Kavanaugh, Patrick Desjardins, Danielle Kavanaugh, Brianna Doten, Burleigh Desjardins, Nicholas Desjardins and Will Kavanaugh; her two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Marleigh Kavanaugh; and many beloved extended family members and dear friends.
