HARRISON — Playing its third doubleheader and sixth and seventh games in a four-day span, Bessey Motors continued its surge in the Zone 3 American Legion baseball standings Sunday with a 7-2 and 14-3 sweep of Andy Valley at the RADR “Field of Dreams” complex.

Bessey (12-3) scored two runs in each of the first three innings of the opener against Andy Valley ace Payton Kennison. Nick Bowie had three singles and Nick Attaliades-Ryan delivered two to lead Bessey’s nine-hit attack.

Ryan Godin pitched four scoreless innings for Bessey before Aiden Heikkinen took over. The two held Andy Valley (1-14) to five hits.

The second contest was a tight one until Bessey erupted for 11 runs in the fourth inning, then kept Andy Valley off the board in the fifth to win by the mercy rule.

Heikkinen had four RBIs in the contest and was joined as a repeat hitter by Matt Beauchesne, Nick Bowie and Jordan Croteau. Ben Bowie, Brandon Campbell and Croteau each drove in two runs.

Andy Valley took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, and Jonah Williams pitched well enough to keep the game tied into the fourth.

Tyler Hutchinson chalked up two of Andy Valley’s five hits in the nightcap.

Bessey has games with Tri-Town, Windham and Pastime Club remaining. With a sweep, the Oxford Hills club could snag the No. 1 seed in the zone playoff and the accompanying automatic berth in the state tournament.

Rogers Post 4, Tri-Town 2

AUBURN — William J. Rogers Post scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning Sunday, more than enough to back Nate Pushard’s three-hit, complete-game effort in a 4-2 Zone 3 American Legion baseball win.

Pushard provided much of his own support. With one out in the first, Mike Hammond singled and Josh Delong reached on an error by the right fielder. Pushard drove home both with a single.

After Evan Raymond reached on a fielder choice, Brian Crane hit a single and Raymond scored on an error by the right fielder.

Delong led off the third with a single and advanced to second on an error. He stole third and scored on Evan Raymond’s ground out.

Pushard took a no-hitter into the seventh, when Tri-Town rallied with two runs.

Ethan Cailler led off with the initial hit. Shawn Murphy also singled. After Garrett Fillebrown struck out, Matt Rabasco singled to drive in Cailler. Walks by Dan Bernier walked and Pat Jipson pushed home another run, but Pushard got Kaleb Bridgham to fly out to left to end the game.

Crane was the lone repeat hitter in the game.
