AUBURN — Memorial services honoring the life of Erland N. Tucker who died on June 23 were held at the First Universalist Church in Auburn Thursday morning with the Rev. Dr. Jodi Cohen Hayashida officiating. During the service, musicians Phil House and Dave Rowe played “The Rose,” and “Standing on the Side of Love.” Margaret Sjostrom, soloist from Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94, sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” After the Rev. Dr. Hayashida’s benediction, a reception of fellowship was held in the church hall.
Following the reception, all gathered at Mount Auburn Cemetery for graveside committal prayers recited by the Rev. Dr. Hayashida, which concluded with the United States Army honor detail playing Taps and presenting our country’s flag to Erland’s wife, Esther, in appreciation of her husband’s service to his country. Erland’s close friend, Robert Herrick, then shared what a great friend Erland was and how he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
