WILTON —  Planning Board members Thursday will discuss the Appeals Board’s  request to take another look at permitting reconstruction of a dam on Dakin Brook.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Town Office.

The board approved a permit for Derrick Thibodeault of Parsonsfield for reconstruction of a dam on the stream to create a pond. Members considered it an earth-moving project, Paul Montague, code enforcement officer, said Wednesday.

During an appeal brought by landowners Conrad Heeschen and Pam Prodan and heard July 25, Appeals Board members said they “want us to look at it again,” Montague said.

The Planning Board needs to consider whether the dam is a legal nonconforming structure, under the town’s ordinance.

Under outdoor resource-based activities in the ordinance, dams are not mentioned but docks, piers and structures out in the water are, Montague said.

An official review of the matter is on the agenda for the next board meeting, Aug. 15, he said.

In other business, the Planning Board will consider a permit application for a home day care at 293 Munson Road submitted by Carrie Lancaster.
