PARIS — Harry Sims, a longtime officer with the Paris Police Department, left the force last week, according to Town Manager Amy Bernard.

Bernard refused to speak further about Sims’ departure on July 30, saying it was a confidential personnel matter.

“He left; he’s no longer with the department,” Bernard said.

Last August, Sims accepted full-time employment as a patrolman.

Attempts to contact Sims for comment Tuesday were unsuccessful.

Sims is the second officer to leave Paris PD in less than a month. In mid-July, Alan Carr, a veteran police officer who was hired around the same time as Sims, submitted his resignation.

The town is advertising Sims’ position and is trying to fill a detective position. It’s also in the process of hiring a chief to succeed interim Chief Michael Dailey, who left in March.

Last summer, three longtime officers left the department for other law enforcement positions in the area. Sims and Carr were two of the new hires made to fill the gap left by the wave resignations.
