Lewiston firefighters, police and United Ambulance personnel carry the driver of an SUV to an ambulance after using the Jaws of Life to extricate him from the vehicle, which crashed along the side of Alfred Plourde Parkway in Lewiston on Monday morning. It was unclear at the time what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway on the gradual curve, shear off the utility pole, foreground, and crash into the woods between the Ramada Inn and Pinette and Lynch Funeral Home. The car is registered to a 61-year-old Lewiston man.
