TURNER — Town Manager Scott LaFlamme advised people whose properties are under a tax lien to make arrangements to pay up as soon as possible.
Speaking at Monday night’s selectmen meeting, LaFlamme said there are eight or nine property owners who have not made agreements for their property. He said the town has no desire to evict occupants and sell the property, but it will have no choice if agreements aren’t made.
Selectmen intended to set the 2013-14 tax rate Monday but tabled the matter pending completion of the town revaluation.
LaFlamme announced that the town has received $4,124 from the Maine Municipal Association Property and Casualty Insurance Pool due to the town’s effective loss control program that has held down insurance claims.
In other business, Code Enforcement Officer Roger Williams is developing a report, complete with photographs, documenting cleanup efforts at two junkyards. The businesses were given until late September to comply with town law. In October, Williams and selectmen will determine what further action, if any, is required.
Turner is looking for a volunteer to serve on the Androscoggin County Budget Committee. Anyone interested should contact LaFlamme at the Town Office immediately, because county commissioners will meet Wednesday evening to accept nominations.
