OXFORD — The Planning Board signed final plans for the proposed hotel on Route 26 during its meeting Sept. 12, giving full municipal authorization to the project.

Oxford Code Enforcement Officer Rodney Allen said the board’s official approval of the plans means the project, an 80- to 120-room, four-story hotel with an  attached restaurant directly across the street from the Oxford Casino, can move forward.

The hotel is being built on 4.3 acres of farm and grazing land owned by Suzanne Hall.

The company is still seeking approval for its proposal from the Maine Department of Transportation, Allen said.

Casalinova Development Group, an Oxford-based company, announced plans to build the hotel in June. The project is not affiliated with the Oxford Casino.

Planning Board members approved the company’s submitted site plans in August, but held off on signing off on the project until CDG submitted an amended version of the designs.

The amendments, including placing guardrails on the down-gradient edge of the hotel’s parking lots and the removal of a landscaping tree in a dividing island were suggested by Main-Land Development Consultants, an engineering firm hired by the board to peer review CDG’s site plan.

When he announced the plans in June, CDG President Joe Casalinova said the company hoped to begin construction next spring.
