MINOT — A morning of farm pond construction and maintenance tips will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Hemond Farm and Motor Cross.

After a time of classroom instruction, participants will walk to the farm pond and discuss management practices. Refreshments will be available.

To obtain a registration form, call Jane at 753-9400, ext. 400, or go to www.androscogginswcd.org. Preregistration is required by Tuesday, Oct. 15. The non-refundable registration fee is $7.50 a person or $10 a couple. The registration fee will offset the cost of morning refreshments.

The Walk and Talk is being sponsored by the Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District, hosted by the Hemond Farm at 695 Old Woodman Hill Road, Minot, and facilitated by USDA Natural Resources Conservation District Agricultural Engineer Candace Gilpatric.

The program will offer an informal training opportunity, new pond construction tips, ideas for pond maintenance, helps for planning pond use, view of a farm pond practices used and an interactive learning experience with a question-and-answer session.
