MINOT — A morning of farm pond construction and maintenance tips will be held from 8:30 a.m until noon Saturday, Oct. 19.
The session will be held at the Hemond Farm and Motor Cross in Minot. After a time of classroom instruction, participants will walk to the farm pond and discuss management practices. Refreshments will be available.
This program will offer a relaxed, informal training opportunity, new pond construction tips, ideas for pond maintenance, help for planning pond use, viewing of farm pond practices and an interactive learning experience with a question-and-answer time.
Due to the government shutdown, Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District does not have access to its mail. If you have sent a registration or want to register, please call Jane at 753-9400, extension 400, or email her at [email protected].
Pre-registration is required by Oct. 15. The cost is $7.50 per person or $10 per couple. The registration fee will be collected at the workshop and will offset the cost of morning refreshments. Notify Jane at the number above if special accommodations are needed. The walk to the pond will not be handicapped-accessible.
The Farm Pond Walk and Talk is sponsored by the Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District, hosted by the Hemond Farm at 695 Old Woodman Hill Road in Minot and facilitated by Candi Gilpatric and Bob VanRiper.
