FARMINGTON — Police say a man sought on a warrant on a charge of trafficking crack cocaine in Farmington was arrested Monday in a motel in Auburn.
Taurus Allen, 34, was returned to Farmington to face the felony charge, Farmington police Sgt. Edward Hastings IV said Tuesday.
Sgt. Hastings and Sgt. Chad Abbott of the Wilton Police Department started an investigation in July after they received information that Allen was suspected of dealing drugs and his girlfriend, Jennifer Goodwin, 35, was suspected of selling prescription drugs from her home on Depot Street in Wilton, he said.
Goodwin moved to Sunny Hill Apartments on Fairbanks Road in Farmington about two weeks before police searched her apartment. Allen was also staying at the apartment, Hastings said.
Police got a search warrant for the apartment and on Sept. 14 found evidence of drug trafficking, he said. Goodwin was arrested on a felony charge of trafficking drugs. She was selling Suboxone, a drug used for narcotic withdrawal, he said. She was released from Franklin County Detention Center on $3,000 unsecured bail.
Farmington police issued a warrant for Allen’s arrest and recently received information that Allen was in a motel in Auburn. They alerted Auburn Police who arrested Allen Oct. 24, Hastings said.
Cpl. Phil Richards of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department went to the Auburn jail Monday and brought Allen back to Farmington.
Allen appeared in court Monday. His bail was set at $7,500 cash, according to an officer at the detention center. He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 2.
