LIVERMORE — Selectpersons voted Monday to buy a 7- by 14-foot, dual-axle utility trailer for $2,800 from Scott’s Recreation in Turner, Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said Tuesday.
Selectperson John Wakefield recused himself from the vote because his son, Jonathan, works for the business, he said.
Highway foreman Roger Ferland presented prices from three vendors for the trailer. Other bids were Howie’s Welding and Fabrication of Jay at $3,260, and Michaud’s Trailers of Auburn at $3,260, Schaub said.
The board also accepted an offer from FairPoint Communications that will lower the town’s telephone bill by $55 a month, he said.
When he called FairPoint about a service problem last week, Schaub said a company representative informed him that the town could lower the long distance portion of its bill by $11 per month per line, and have free calling throughout the U.S. and Canada, he said.
The town has three phones at the Town Office, including one fax line, and a phone at the Transfer Station and at the town garage.
