FARMINGTON — Veterans Day ceremonies are being planned for Monday, Nov. 11, in Farmington, Jay, Livermore Falls and Wilton.

Farmington

American Legion Post 28 will hold a wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m. at the WWI monument on Main Street. The color guard will participate and Commander Dave Targett will place a wreath at the monument.

A wreath-laying ceremony at the WWII Memorial in Meetinghouse Park follows. Prayer will be offered by Chaplain Langdon Adams at each site.

Attendees of these ceremonies are invited to the Post 28 hall for a beef stew dinner, prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary, before attending a larger annual ceremony at Walmart.

The Walmart program begins at 1 p.m. and includes a welcome from store manager Greg Patterson, greetings from state Sen. Tom Saviello, R-Wilton, various veterans sharing military memories, music by the Franklin County Fiddlers, a tribute to Vietnam veterans, the Emblem Club’s folding of the flag and a time for honoring veterans.

Jay/Livermore Falls

Members of the American Legion Post 10 in Livermore Falls, VFW Post 3335 and Amvets Post 33, both in Jay, and their auxiliaries will gather on Veterans Day to remember and honor all veterans, past and present, and the sacrifice they gave for freedom.

8:45 a.m. Livermore Falls memorial Bridge for wreath laying honoring veterans lost at sea.

9:10 a.m. Brettuns Memorial in Livermore for wreath laying.

9:40 a.m. Livermore Falls Park for wreath laying.

10 a.m. Jay-Chisholm Monument for wreath laying.

10:20 a.m. Fayette Memorial for wreath laying.

11 a.m. VFW Post 3335, Jay for a light luncheon.

1 p.m. Veterans Day program at Walmart in Farmington.

Wilton

A Veterans Day ceremony begins at 9 a.m. at the monument on Main Street. Following a brief program, a wreath will be dropped into Wilson Stream.
