Loretta Hamann of Lewiston recently received congratulations from the 126th Maine Legislature for her 45 years in public education, 40 of them as a math teacher in Lewiston. Hamann taught in Livermore Falls and in Walpole, Mass. In Lewiston she taught at Montello Junior High, Lewiston Junior High and Lewiston Middle School. During the past 37 years, she was assigned to room 204 at LMS where she served more than 5,000 students as a seventh-grade math teacher and Team 72 team leader. After receiving her master’s degree in technology in 2000, she also served as the teacher leader for LMS in the Maine Learning Technology Initiative, coordinating the introduction and use of Apple laptops for all students and teachers at LMS until her retirement in June.
