The Ice Chest, a locally owned jewelry retailer, partnered with the Good Shepherd Food Bank and Wallingford’s Fruit House in Auburn for the 1,000 Apple Challenge on Sept. 20 at the fruit house. With the help of a dozen volunteers, the Good Shepherd Food Bank and Wallingford’s picked more than 400 pounds of apples, exceeding the goal.
