FARMINGTON — A room and its contents were destroyed by fire early Thursday morning at 122 Davis Road.

The space between the home and garage belonging to Richard and Coleen Condon was built into a room, Farmington Fire Chief Terry Bell said Friday.

The room was gutted by fire. The rest of the house was not damaged, he said.

Firefighters believe the fire may have started from materials too close to an ignition source, he said.

The owners were home and heard the smoke detectors. The house is insured. Bell estimated damage at about $30,000.

Farmington Fire and Rescue responded to the 12:25 a.m. call and quickly had the fire under control, he said.

Mutual aid from Jay, Wilton and New Sharon was initially requested and then canceled.
