PARIS — Selectmen approved a food donation program for the Town Office during their meeting Tuesday.
According to Town Manager Amy Bernard, office employees have expressed interest in having a bin in the building where people can donate nonperishable food items. The office will donate the supplies to a local food pantry.
The idea initially was inspired by the holiday season, but Bernard said the director of a local food pantry suggested the town wait until January to deliver donated food.
The food pantry she contacted was fully stocked at the moment but anticipated need in the new year, Bernard said.
With the board’s approval, the office intends to keep a year-round donation bin, Bernard told selectmen.
