FARMINGTON — Santa Claus is coming to downtown Farmington on Saturday, and he’s bringing Mrs. Claus.
Once again, the Farmington Downtown Association will sponsor activities centered around Santa’s visit from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in the downtown area, Laurie Danforth said for the association.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with children during that time at Homestead Kitchen, Bar and Bakery, Danforth added.
Other activities include writing letters to Santa at the Farmington Public Library and a free decorated doughnut at Dunkin’ Donuts on Main Street. Mooseville on Main Street will provide an opportunity for children to make a free balsam pillow.
A couple of horses pulling a sleigh will loop around the downtown area to provide free rides, she said. People can begin the ride anywhere along the path they want.
At the library, staff, volunteers and a couple of elves will help children write their letters to Santa, decorate envelopes and sing some songs, she said.
“If there is a return address on the letter, the children will get a letter back from Santa,” Danforth said.
At the Homestead, children can enjoy a free holiday cookie and a photographer from Memories by Melissa of Wilton can “capture the moment with Santa” for a fee of $5 for a 4- by 6-inch photo, she said.
Other downtown businesses will be open for holiday shopping, she said.
