BANGOR — Senior point guard Kory Norcross recorded 17 points to lead Edward Little to a 57-47 victory over Bangor in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
Norcross tossed four free throws down the stretch to ice the game for the Red Eddies (3-0). Emily Jacques contributed 16 points, while Tianna Harriman posted 14 points.
Sophomore point guard Sarah Bragg netted five field goals and five free throws to lead the Rams (2-1) with 15 points. Emily Gilmore chipped in with 12 points for Bangor.
Mt. Abram 31, Winthrop 27
WINTHROP — Alora Ross dropped in a game-high 12 points to lead the Mt. Abram girls’ basketball team to it first victory of the season, edging Winthrop 31-27.
Olivia Ryan had nine points on the evening for the Roadrunners (1-3), while Alexandra Harnden scored six. Randi Dennett netted a team-high 10 points for the Ramblers (0-3).
Oak Hill 67, Telstar 26
WALES — Kelsey Collins had a busy day on offense, dropping 15 points and leading Oak Hill to a 67-26 rout over Telstar in a girls MVC basketball contest Friday.
Danielle Samson tallied 11 points on the day for the Raiders (2-2), while Hayley Marshall scored 9.
Victoria Ryerson had a team-high 11 points for the Rebels (0-4).
Monmouth 43, Boothbay 39
BOOTHBAY — Monmouth made use of two scorers who combined for 25 points on offense, to lift its team past Boothbay 43-39 in girls’ varsity basketball action.
Kylie Kemp scored a team-high 13 points for the Mustangs (3-1), while Haley West added in 12.
Morgan Crocker and Hannah Morley had 12 points each for the Seahawks, as they went to 1-2 on the season.
Poland 46, Yarmouth 44
YARMOUTH — Michaella Arsenault accounted for half of her teams offense, scoring 23 points to give Poland the edge 46-44 over Yarmouth in a girls’ varsity basketball matchup.
Emily Bolduc got the job done on offense as well, adding in 13 points of her own for the Knights (3-0). Cory Langenbach was the high scorer for the Clippers (1-2), netting 12 points on the evening.
Rangeley 53, North Haven 20
RANGELEY — Senior point guard Tori Letarte drained 18 points to lead Rangeley to a 53-20 victory over North Haven in girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Lakers (3-0) took a 26-7 lead at the half. Blayke Morin recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds for Rangeley.
Junior guard Maddie Hallowell provided the majority of the Hawks’ (0-4) offense with 12 points on two field goals, including a trey, and seven free throws.
Messalonskee 46, Mt. Blue 43
FARMINGTON — Senior center Kelsey Mayo scored 16 points to lift Messalonskee to a 46-43 victory over Mt. Blue in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Cougars (0-2) scored 20 points in the second quarter to take a 27-21 halftime lead.
But, the Eagles (2-0) pecked away at the lead over the next two frames to take the lead. Senior guard Miranda Nicely posted game-high seven field goals and three free throws for 17 points in the winning effort.
Skowhegan 51, Lewiston 41
SKOWHEGAN — Morgan Buker scored 19 points and Alanna Atkinson added 10 as Skowhegan rolled to a 51-41 victory over Lewiston in a girls’ basketball game Friday.
Skowhegan built a 29-18 lead at the half.
For Lewiston, Laurianne Murphy scored 12 points and Kristina Blais added 10.
Girls’ hockey
Leavitt/EL 4, Brunswick 0
BRUNSWICK — Danica Nadeau and Mariah Vaillancourt recorded a goal and an assist each as Leavitt/Edward Little grabbed a 4-0 shutout victory over Brunswick in girls’ hockey action Friday.
The Red Hornets (4-2) netted a pair of goals in each of the first and third periods. Taylor Landry provided two assists for Leavitt-Edward Little.
Lewiston 1, Mt. Ararat 0
TOPSHAM — Corinne Laberge scored the winning goal on an Eric Lemieux assist in the first period as Lewiston held on for a 1-0 victory over Mt. Ararat in a girls’ hockey game Friday night.
Lewiston out shot Mt. Ararat, 23-8, but Eagles goalie Alison Nolan only allowed one goal.
Women’s basketball
CMCC 80, EMCC 39
BANGOR — Senior forward Jaime Swart shot a season high with 22 points to lead Central Maine Community College to an 80-39 victory over Eastern Maine Community College in wormen’s basketball action Friday.
The Mustangs (13-1) kept the Golden Eagles (2-7) to just 16 points in the first half. Freshman guard Jasmine Ramos contributed 14 points for Central Maine.
Junior forward Carolyn Bess netted a team-high 13
