LISBON — The community and schools are responding following an accident early Saturday that killed one Lisbon Falls teenager and injured three others when their car struck a tree.
The Lisbon Crisis Response Team had developed an action plan to assist students, parents, staff and community members, according to a release from the Lisbon School Department on Monday.
Counselors from the department are currently supporting students and staff. Tri-County Mental Health Services is also available for anyone requiring support after regular school hours. It may be reached at 207-783-4680, according to the release.
The accident on Main Street killed the driver, Andrew N. Chapman, 16, of Faith Street, and injured three others, two of Lisbon Falls and one of Topsham. Two were taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, treated for their injuries and were home Saturday night. A third passenger was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston and transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Lisbon police said Saturday excessive speed was a factor. The accident is still under investigation.
