WILTON — The Board of Selectmen has unanimously agreed to move all town bank accounts to Androscoggin Bank.

Five local banks responded to a request for information about their services, Selectman Tiffany Maiuri told the board last week.

She said a committee appointed to study the services recommended Androscoggin Bank because there are no fees and interest would be paid on funds the moment they are deposited.

The bank also has a large customer service team ready to train town personnel about banking needs, she said. “We thought they were the best fit for the town.”

The board agreed to move the accounts to the one bank. Selectmen also agreed that town accounts tied to the stock market should be slowly moved over to trusts.

In other business, the board opened bids for the mowing of town cemeteries during the coming year. They tabled a decision to provide time to study the bids. They also wanted to consider whether the work could be done by the town instead of by an outside service.

The board also approved a five-year solid waste contract with Waste Management, which has contracted with the town for solid waste disposal for 20-plus years, Town Manger Rhonda Irish told the board.

For a five-year contract, the rate per ton begins at $58, she said. It’s a rate the town hasn’t seen since 2010, she said. By year five, the rate increases to where it is now.

The board also awarded a five-year contract to Archie’s of Mexico for trucking services starting at $166 per trip to Norridgewock. Waste Management and Pine Tree Waste also submitted bids for the trucking services.
