BUCKFIELD — Fire crews from several towns were on Paris Hill Road late Thursday after a building went up in flames.

The first fire crews to respond said the building, believed to be a barn or a shed, was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at about 9:30 p.m. Initial reports were that no one was at home when the building went up in flames, although there may have been pets inside.

By 10 p.m., firefighters from several towns, including Paris, Hebron, Sumner, Turner and Oxford were assisting Buckfield firefighters.

The burning building was said to be across from 349 Paris Hill Road, which runs parallel to Route 117.

As fire crews responded, Oxford County Sheriff’s Office officials advised that some stretches of the road were icy as temperatures dipped into the teens.

There were no immediate reports of injury.
