AUBURN — Police are asking motorists to stay off of city roads Monday night.
Heavy rain is predicted for the area Monday afternoon followed by a severe cold front that will send temperatures plummeting below the freezing mark by 5 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Jason Moen said in a written statement shortly before noon.
“This is going to create very treacherous traveling conditions tonight,” Moen said. Clogged storm drains have caused standing water to accumulate on some roads. Public Works crews are working to keep the roads salted and sanded and storm drains clear, but “Mother Nature simply is not cooperating,” Moen said.
