LEWISTON — Obviously, firefighters in Boston are in no mood for hockey.
A game between the Boston Fire Department and Lewiston police was postponed Thursday as crews in Beantown continued to mourn their fallen colleagues.
“With heavy hearts we would like to say our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters in red down in Boston,” the Lewiston police hockey team posted on its Facebook page. “Rest in peace brothers.”
Two Boston firefighters died Thursday while battling a 9-alarm blaze.
Local police had been scheduled to skate against the Boston firefighters at the Quincy Youth Arena. No makeup date had been set.
Lewiston police will take on Maine Fire this Sunday at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
