AUGUSTA —  The Maine Trial Lawyers Association announces that Michael Welch of Lewiston has been named president-elect.

Along with other officers, Welch took his new position during the association’s annual meeting in Freeport in late March. He will serve a one-year term.

Welch is a partner with the personal injury firm of Hardy Wolf and Downing , PA, and has been trying cases in state and federal courts in Maine for 29 years. He also maintains a practice representing injured workers, especially where third-party negligence is involved.

In addition, Welch had been involved in numerous appellate cases before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court that have impacted the law in insurance coverage issues on behalf of his clients and against insurance companies.

He earned his undergraduate degree and law degree from Northeastern University in Boston. Through the years, he had remained active in his community, being involved in numerous youth-related activities.
