BUCKFIELD — Maine State Police are seeking information regarding an early morning break-in at the Buckfield Mall on Sunday.

According to Trooper Tyler Stevenson, at about 4:15 a.m., the suspect was seen in what appeared to be a silver KIA Soul at the Buckfield Mall convenience store.

Stevenson said the suspect, described as a white male, about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build, was wearing what appeared to be a hooded jacket and carrying a backpack.

Approximately two hours before the break-in, a similar vehicle was involved in the break-in at a Big Apple convince store in Bethel, Stevenson said. That break-in is being investigated by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Deputy Bill Nelson of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department, both Bob and Terry’s Ski and Sports Outlet and the Big Apple were both broken into.

Nelson said specific items were stolen in each case — liquor and cigarettes at the Big Apple and clothing, goggles, sunglasses and the cash register from Bob and Terry’s.

The cash register was later found without its contents in Buckfield. “I think it landed in some guy’s front yard,” Nelson said.

Nelson said they already have some good leads and solid evidence.

Stevenson is asking anyone with information to contact him at the Troop B Barracks at 657-3030. The Oxford County Sheriff’s Department can be reached at 743-9554.
