AUGUSTA (AP) — A bill that would close a $30 million hole in the Maine budget next fiscal year and reduce waitlists for services in the state’s Medicaid program is heading to Republican Gov. Paul LePage.

In a 136-8 vote, the Democratic-led House approved the supplemental budget on Tuesday. The Senate followed with a 35-0 vote.

The measure for the fiscal year that ends June 30, 2015, closes a $17 million Medicaid budget shortfall and adds $5 million annually to slash a waitlist for things like home-based care services for Mainers with disabilities.

The bill won unanimous approval in the Appropriations Committee last week.

LePage has criticized a provision that would extend the cycle of Medicaid payments to health care providers to save $20 million.
