1924 – 2014

LEWISTON — Raymond B. Levesque, 90, of 78 Biron Avenue, Lewiston, died Sunday, April 13, at Ouellette’s Adult Foster Care in Lewiston.

He was born in Lewiston on March 18, 1924, the son of Leo and Alice Gendron Levesque.

Educated locally, he was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. On May 29, 1948, he married the former Dorothy Gagne, who passed away on May 25, 2010. He worked in the local shoe industry for several years, and then went to work as a civil service employee at the Brunswick Naval Air Station, retiring in 1986.

Following his retirement, he and his wife spent the next decade traveling and visiting relatives out of state. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, he is survived by a daughter, Rita and husband, Russell Desjardins, of Lewiston; a son, Bertrand of Lewiston; a brother, Marcel and wife, Theresa, of West Mont, Ill.; sister-in-law Gwen Marland of Texas; four grandchildren, Amy Cronkhite and husband, Scott, Keith Desjardins and wife, Nicole, and David and Matthew Levesque; four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Gavin Cronkhite, Avaya and Landon Desjardins.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his step-mother, Valda Levesque, and two brothers, Roger and Richard.
