Emily Hartung and Marsha Planting, co-owners of The Calico Patch gift shop in Farmington, present the the Rev. Susan Crane, center, with a check for $422 for the Franklin County Ecumenical Heating Fund. Calico Patch owners began by selling tickets to Heat Dance III in January and February, and then decided to raise some money themselves. Certain merchandise was put on sale in February and 10 percent was set aside for ECU Heat Share Program. So far this heating season, 352 households throughout Franklin County have participated in the program. By applying and contributing a $50 share, each homeowner received one 50-gallon delivery of oil, kerosene, propane (or equivalent in wood or pellets). The program ended March 31. The fund is a program of the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry and is supported entirely by donations.
