FARMINGTON — A chimney fire at 106 Philbrick St. on Thursday morning spread to the walls, causing fire and smoke damage, Deputy Chief Clyde Ross of Farmington Fire and Rescue said.
Toby and Melanie Tyler and their two school-age children resided at the home, according to Ross and others at the scene. The American Red Cross was called to help the family. There is no insurance on the home, Ross said.
Residents gathered next door at Falls General Store said the couple’s children were in school at the time of the blaze.
Members of the Farmington department called for mutual aid from area departments at about 10:30 a.m. Smoke rose from the home as firefighters opened windows on both floors.
Chesterville, Jay, New Sharon, Wilton and Temple fire departments assisted. NorthStar ambulance also responded and Farmington Police Department officers helped with traffic control.
