WILTON — There is something for everyone at this year’s Great Whatever Auction sponsored by the Wilton Scholarship Foundation.

The auction takes place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Academy Hill School in Wilton.

The annual auction, which features a free dessert buffet, is a major fundraiser for the Wilton Scholarship Foundation, which provides money for current and former graduates from Wilton, East Wilton, East Dixfield, Dryden and Weld.

A special item on the block this year is a baseball autographed by Mike Napoli, a member of the Boston Red Sox’s 2013 World Series team.

The Great Whatever Auction features new items and gift certificates from local merchants such as the Narrow Gauge Cinema and Hammond Lumber as well as treasures rescued from attics and garages.

Don Tranten of Tranten’s Market contributed a freezer pack featuring 15 pounds of select chicken, beef and pork.

Erica Emery of Rustic Roots Farm gave an August share of the community farm that will provide the winner with four weeks of fresh, locally grown vegetables such as fresh greens, tomatoes and squash.

Food City donated a new Keurig coffee brewer.

Gift certificates from Save-a-Lot, Subway, Pizza Hut and Gifford’s Dairy will also be on the block.

There is also a three-month membership for the UMF Health and Fitness Center up for bid, gift certificates from massage therapist Ken Richards
and beauty and hairstylist Yvonne Teele of Silver Shears.

For book and art lovers, local children’s author Nancy Prince donated a copy of her book, “Libby’s Loons.”

Shirley Lorette gave a watercolor print of a coastal scene, and photographer Dave Karkos provided two matted and framed nature photos, one featuring loons and the other a woodpecker on a tree.

Sugarwood Gallery provided six laser-cut, wooden plaques.

New or gently used auction items are welcome at the door or by calling 645-3894 evenings for pickup. No mattresses, clothes or appliances will be accepted.
