Jake Bannister led the Raiders (3-1) with two hits and two RBIs.
John McKenna went the distance for Spruce Mountain (0-3) and suffered the loss.
Wiscasset 7, Mountain Valley 6
WISCASSET — Mountain Valley’s comeback hopes fell short Wednesday as Wiscasset held on for a 7-6 win in Mountain Valley Conference baseball.
The Falcons scored six runs in the final inning but couldn’t overcome the deficit.
The Wolverines (1-1) jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the first inning and led 7-0 after three frames.
The Falcons (0-4) were paced by Tom Marshall with three hits and two RBIs. Tucker Rowland also contributed with a pair of hits.
Monmouth 13, Mt. Abram 3
MONMOUTH — Monmouth scored eight runs in the fourth inning to beat Mt. Abram 13-3 in more MVC baseball action Wednesday.
Nick Sanborn worked just a third of an inning, struck out one batter and picked up the win for Monmouth (3-0). Alex Curtis led the Mustangs with three hits. Brandon Goff and Kyle Fletcher each added a pair of hits.
Arthur Ryan led the Roadrunners (0-1) with an RBI double in the third.
Dirigo 11, Boothbay 2
BOOTHBAY — Mitch Kubesh gave up two hits and struck out seven as Dirigo rolled to a 11-2 win over Boothbay in MVC baseball play Wednesday.
Gavin Arsenault led the Cougars (2-1) with two hits and one RBI, while Jack Brown also had a pair of hits. Nick St. Germain had a hit and drove in a run.
Kubesh had a perfect game until the fifth inning. John Ripley ended that with a double. Brian Drummond suffered the loss after five innings of work.
Lincoln 21, Leavitt 2
TURNER — Sawyer Pinkham allowed just two hits over five innings and delivered four hits as Lincoln beat Leavitt 21-2 in KVAC baseball Wednesday.
Travis Creamer also had four hits for the Eagles (3-1). Devin Scherer had the only extra base hit on the afternoon with a double.
For Leavitt (1-2), Mitchel Davis took the loss on the mound while Drew Gosselin and Josh Daigle each recorded a hit.
Lisbon 13, Telstar 3
LISBON FALLS — Freshman Tyler Halls struck out six and allowed just three hits as Lisbon cruised to a 13-3 victory over Telstar in boys’ MVC baseball action.
Halls went four innings and was relieved by Tucker Brannon, who closed out the game in the fifth. Halls scored three runs on two hits for the Greyhounds (2-0). Joe Philbrick sparked the offense in the second inning with a lead-off triple, while Darren Ward paced Lisbon with a pair of doubles.
Eric Lowell took the loss on the mound for the Rebels (0-2), while Nik Conrad and Logan Bartlett each had a hit.
Boys’ lacrosse
Mt. Ararat 6, Edward Little 4
AUBURN — After a 3-3 deadlock at the half, Mt. Ararat scored twice in the third quarter in a 6-4 victory over Edward Little in KVAC boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.
Henry Nguyen led the Red Eddies (0-3) with two goals, while Matt Adams and Cam Cormier also tallied. Chris Poisson made 12 saves for Edward Little in a strong performance.
Gardiner 10, Oak Hill 5
GARDINER — Josh Caldwell netted a hat-trick to propel Gardiner to a 10-5 victory over Oak Hill in boys’ lacrosse Wednesday.
Skylur McMillan had a pair while Alex Nadeau, Adrian Heath, Walker Norton and Jake Truman each scored goals. JD Crocker made eight saves for the Tigers (1-0).
Alex Mace scored twice for the Raiders (1-1), while Matty Martin had an active day in net, stopping 18 shots.
Mt. Blue 5, Lincoln 4
FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue had four different goal scorers in a 5-4 win over Lincoln in a 5-4 in boys’ lacrosse action Wednesday.
Sam Taylor scored twice for the Cougars (1-1). Connor Rouillard, Tanner Bessey and Liam Welch all added a goal for Mt. Blue. Rouillard and Bessey each had an assist. Goalkeeper Leo Flannery earned the win in net.
Greg Anderson led the Lincoln offense with a pair of goals, while Sam Kaplinger made 13 saves for the Eagles (0-2).
Softball
Spruce Mountain 4, Oak Hill 2
WALES — Emily Hogan sparked a three-run rally in the second frame as Spruce Mountain hustled to a 4-2 win over Oak Hill in KVAC softball action Wednesday.
Hogan led the Phoenix (2-1) with two hits and one RBI, highlighted by a timely RBI-single in the second. Alex Bessey and Hayley Doyen also contributed with doubles. Emily Keene scattered six hits to earn the win.
The Raiders (0-4) were paced by Kelsey Collins and catcher Emma Hlister with two hits apiece. Sadie Goulet went the distance for Oak Hill.
Lincoln 11, Leavitt 6
TURNER — After jumping out to a 7-0 advantage in the first inning, Lincoln Academy handed Leavitt its first loss of the year with an 11-6 win KVAC action Wednesday.
Ashley York led Lincoln (4-0) with three hits and two RBIs, while Linda Farrin drove in two runs on a pair of hits. Linda Lau gave up 11 hits in seven innings of work for the win.
The Hornets (2-1) were paced by Annie Castonguay with two hits and three RBIs, while Emily Perkins belted out three hits.
Edward Little 3, Lawrence 1
AUBURN — Molly Murray scattered three hits in seven innings to pitch Edward Little to its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Lawrence in KVAC action Wednesday.
Kennedy Hubbard led the Red Eddies (1-2) with two hits and two RBIs, while Calli Murray chipped in with a pair of hits.
Katie Lindsay led the Bulldogs (2-1) with an RBI double in the seventh inning.
Mountain Valley 20, Wiscasset 8
WISCASSET — The Mountain Valley offense produced 23 hits and tallied 20 runs as the Falcons topped Wiscasset 20-8 in MVC softball Wednesday.
Lindsay Martson earned the win and had three hits for the Falcons (3-1). Sam Higley and Aly Carlton each added in three hits. Sydney Petrie led all hitters with four hits, including a double.
For Wiscasset (0-2), Briana Goud had three hits, two of which were extra base hits.
Oxford Hills 12, Mt. Blue 3
FARMINGTON — Oxford Hills won its second straight game with a 12-3 win over Mt. Blue in KVAC softball Wednesday.
Crystal West and Cody Akers combined for the win for Oxford Hills (2-1), allowing just three runs on six hits.
Akers, Annika Kahkonen, Shannon Fillebrown, Myriah Lausier, Anna Winslow and Taylor Johnson were repeat hitters for the Vikings.
Mandi Currier smacked a solo homer for the Cougars (1-3), while Fiona Lefresne chipped in with a double and a single in the loss.
Telstar 1, Lisbon 0
LISBON — Telstar pitcher Jessie Dirago struck out 18 batters, gave up one hit and walked four, giving Telstar (2-0) a 1-0 victory over Lisbon in a softball game Wednesday.
Maissey Griffin belted an RBI double for the Rebels.
Lisbon pitcher Kailyn Hill struck out 14 batters amd gave up two hits.
