PORTLAND — Lewiston native Kyle Doustou is one of three transitional deacons who will be ordained to the priesthood in the Portland Diocese this spring. His ordination is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 30, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston.

Doustou, 27, graduated from Saint Dominic Academy in 2005. He received a full scholarship to the Basselin Scholars Program, a three-year honors philosophy program at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., where he earned bachelor’s and licentiate degrees in philosophy and a bachelor’s degree in theology.

Doustou will complete his master’s degree in theology this spring from Theological College in Washington, D.C.

Bishop Robert P. Deeley announced Doustou’s scheduled ordination this week, along with the ordinations of Brad Morin, 30, of Upper Frenchville, and Edward Clifford, 51, of Shawmut.

In the written announcement, Doustou said, “When I reflect on my life, on all the many joys and challenges, I can clearly see the hand of God guiding me to where I am today.”

“The Lord gifted me from the time I was a boy with a love and desire for the priesthood, and now, He is bringing that gift to fruition,” Doustou said. “I am so looking forward to returning home to Maine, and my gratitude extends to all those who are there waiting for me and who have supported me throughout the years with their prayers and love.”
