MEXICO — A road bond and committee appointments are among the items on the agenda for the special selectmen’s meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6.
The board asked Town Manager John Madigan last month to find out the cost of finishing paving Backkingdom Road, Main Street and Alder Street, with the option to place an article on the warrant for the June 10 annual town meeting.
Discussion about paving began at the April 8 selectmen meeting, when Selectman George Byam suggested an article asking voters to raise and appropriate money to finish paving the roads.
Also Tuesday, the board will vote on appointments to its consolidation subcommittees.
Mexico and Rumford selectmen have been meeting since last June to talk about sharing services.
In September, Municipal Resources, a New Hampshire-based company, provided both towns with a proposal for a comprehensive study on the subject. The boards approved the proposal.
Part of the proposal, according to Don Jutton, president of Municipal Resources, involves setting up subcommittees for departments in each town.
Last Thursday, Rumford selectmen appointed the following residents:
* Jonathan Starr and Candice Casey to the Police subcommittee.
* Michael Arsenault to the Fire subcommittee.
* Roger Viger Jr. and Bromley Cook to the Public Works subcommittee.
* Marie Boudreau to the Library subcommittee.
* Roger Arsenault to the Town Hall and Finance subcommittee.
* Gary Dolloff to the Parks, Recreation and Library subcommittee.
