GRAY — Brandon Hubbard scattered six hits and drew adequate run support as Gray-New Gloucester rolled to a 2-0 win over Falmouth.
Justin McKenna led the Patriots (4-2) with a triple, while Tomas Wood belted an RBI single.
Connor Aube led Falmouth (5-1) with a pair of hits.
Carrabec 10, Telstar 0
BETHEL — Hunter Fernald scattered two hits and drew ample run support Wednesday as Carrabec overpowered Telstar 10-0 in a rather lopsided MVC baseball tilt.
The Cobras (2-3) built a 6-0 lead in the first three frames and were never challenged. Chris Chappie led the winless Rebels (0-5) with a pair of hits.
Oak Hill 4, Lisbon 3
WALES — Parker Asselin belted an RBI single in the seventh inning to give Oak Hill to a 4-3 victory over Lisbon in MVC baseball action Wednesday.
Dalton Therrien and Brady Dion led the Raiders (6-2) with a pair of hits in a well-balanced attack.
Asselin picked up the mound win with 11 hits allowed in five innings of work. Kyle Bourget led the Greyhounds (2-4) with three hits.
Dirigo 12, Madison 1
MADISON — Kaine Hutchins cracked a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in three as Dirigo exploded for 12 runs in the final three innings of a 12-1 victory over Madison on Wednesday.
Tyler Frost and Jack Brown joined Hutchins with two hits including a double for the Cougars (4-1). Gavin Arsenault also had two hits and picked up his first victory of the season by limiting the Bulldogs (2-4) to three hits and a walk while striking out eight in six innings of work.
The Phoenix (3-3) got four key runs in the second and fourth innings. Lucas Preble stepped in for John McKenna after the second inning and went to the rest of the way to earn a win for himself. Dylan Smith doubled and drop in two runs for Spruce Mountain.
Poland 11, Lake Region 4
NAPLES — Bill Bickford peppered three hits, recorded a sacrifice and plated four runs to power Poland to an 11-4 victory over Lake Region in baseball action Wednesday.
The Knights (5-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, and led by just one in the fourth inning before the floodgates began to open. Poland scored in each of the last four frames.
Cody Gibbons provided some pop for the Lakers (0-6), launching a home run and recording two RBIs in the losing effort.
Jake Simard earned the mound win for Poland, while Zach Heath took the loss for Lake Region.
Softball
Poland 4, Lake Region 0
NAPLES — Kylie Martin allowed just four hits, striking out four and walking one to lead Poland to a 4-0 victory over Lake Region in softball action Wednesday.
The Knights (3-4) scored a run in the third as Haley Whitworth led off with a double and later scored on an infield out.
Poland added a run in the fourth, and tacked on two more runs in the sixth as Kalor Plummer doubled, and Whitworth delivered a single following an error and a walk.
Ashley Clark struck out five and walked four for the Lakers (3-4).
Telstar 10, Carrabec 0
BETHEL — Senior pitcher Jessica Dirago struck out 14 while allowing just one hit and two walks to lead Telstar to a 10-0 shutout of Carrabec in MVC softball action Wednesday.
The Rebels (4-1) posted eight runs in the first three innings.
Becca Howard collected three hits and four RBIs, while Autum Morin roped a two-run triple for Telstar.
Carrabec’s (3-2) first baseman and relief pitcher, Jessica Vaillancourt, broke up Dirago’s no-hitter with a double in the seventh inning.
Spruce Mountain 7, Mt. Abram 4
SALEM — Pitcher Emily Keene scattered three hits while striking out 12 to lead Spruce Mountain to a 7-4 victory over Mt. Abram in softball action Wednesday.
The Phoenix (4-2) scored the first run of the game in the second inning on a two-out RBI single by right fielder Megan Duval.
Spruce Mountain added three more runs in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Keene and an RBI single by Kailee Newcomb.
Katie Gordon pitched a complete game for the Roadrunners (2-4), giving up nine hits while striking out nine batters.
