FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Budget Advisory Committee will meet Monday, May 19, to discuss where they stand on the proposed $5.65 million county budget, Chairman John Calloway said Friday.

The meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. at the Farmington District Court, which is across the street from the Franklin County Courthouse. The meeting is open to the public.

County commissioners have proposed the $5.65 million spending package for 2014-15. It reflects an increase of about 2.5 percent, or $192,468, from the current budget. The budget figure also covers $1.6 million for the jail.

Under the proposal, if the Budget Advisory Committee makes no changes, taxpayers would be asked to raise about $5 million, according to the county’s information. It represents an increase of $98,414 from last year.

The budget panel will hold a public hearing on the proposal at 5 p.m. Monday, June 16, at the Franklin County Superior Courtroom on the second floor of the county courthouse.
