LIVERMORE FALLS — Child Safety Day will be observed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at Ranor Mechanical on Route 4 in North Jay. Free bicycles and other items will be given away.
The event is sponsored by U.S. Cellular of Livermore Falls for children from kindergarten through fifth grade, but is open to children of all ages. There will be child bicycle and helmet safety checks and a rodeo. Children are asked to bring their bikes and helmets.
There will also be a child car seat and booster seat check.
Jay and Livermore Falls police will do child fingerprinting and DNA kits. Jay and Livermore Falls firefighters will share fire prevention information.
The Livermore Falls Fire Department will sell refreshments.
Free raffles will be held for bicycles, and car and booster seats. To be eligible for the giveaways, children have to go through the safety events.
Businesses that donated bicycles or money for car seats for the raffles are Shippers Express & Tanning Hut, Ranor Mechanical, Finley Funeral Home, Ted Berry Co., PalletOne of Maine, Spencer Jackman Trucking, Main-Land Development Consultants, Flower Barn, Johnny Castonguay Logging, Adam Castonguay Excavation, Scott’s Recreation, United Bikers of Maine, Sunshine Pools, ABT Plumbing & Heating, Bike Coalition of Maine, State Child Passenger Safety and the Lions Club.
Cotton candy and popcorn also will be available.
