MEXICO — In recognition of Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the Oxford County Elder Abuse Taskforce will hold a Free Senior Resource Fair from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at the Oxford Federal Credit Union, 225 River Road.
The event will include resource tables where attendees can receive information and resources. Agencies tabling will include: Adult Protective Services, SeniorsPlus, Safe Voices, Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services, Med-Care Ambulance, Community Dental, River Valley Healthy Community, Legal Services for the Elderly, AARP, Elder Independence and Oxford Federal Credit Union.
Speakers will also be presenting during the resource fair, including: Jill Randall, an attorney who will focus on financial exploitation; Detective Lieutenant of the Oxford County Sheriff Department Thomas Harriman and Assistant Police Chief of Mexico Police Department Roy Hodgson will focus on elder scams; and staff from Oxford Federal Credit Union will present on the importance of elders keeping their financial affairs up to date and in order and what financial institutions do to help avoid instances of elder abuse.
Free giveaways and snacks, and resource tables will be available.
