JAY — Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere reminded residents that if a trash collection day lands on a holiday, such as the 4th of July, they should not put their trash out in front of their home.

People need to either hold on to their trash and recyclables for a week or take them to the town’s transfer station, she said.

The town eliminated double-route trash pickups in November 2013.

Some people put their trash out on Memorial Day and had to be asked to bring it in, because the holiday’s parade would be passing their homes.
