BETHEL — The search for a new town manager and discussion about a basketball court are on the agenda for Monday’s selectmen meeting.
It begins at 7 p.m. June 23 at the Town Office.
Interim Town Manager Steve Eldridge said members of the Bethel Recreation Committee will speak about a location for the basketball court.
Last year, selectmen authorized former Town Manager Jim Doar to appoint Steve Wight of Newry to represent a dog park planning committee and present a plan to the Planning Board.
Shortly after Wight’s plan was approved by the Planning Board, a petition was submitted asking for construction of a basketball court at Davis Park, the same site Wight was pursuing for a dog park.
An article asking if a dog park should be constructed and one asking if a basketball court should be constructed were placed on the 2013 annual town meeting warrant. Residents approved the article that proposed constructing a basketball court at Davis Park.
Eldridge said the site the Recreation Committee is eying is in a wetland and a wetland delineation of Davis Park may be required before construction can begin.
“We’ll be talking about all of that at the meeting,” Eldridge said.
Eldridge said a representative of the law firm Eaton Peabody will attend Monday’s meeting to discuss the town’s next steps in searching for a town manager.
Doar accepted a position as county administrator in Gallatin County, Montana.
“I’ll stay here as long as they need me,” Eldridge said.
Other items on the agenda include:
* Discussion on whether to approve a junkyard permit for Lucille Wilson of Gore Road.
* Discussion between residents Ross Timberlake and Paul LeGault regarding an entertainment permit.
